In case you are new to this series, we are turning our programmes into bitesize articles for free. Stay Tuned every Monday for a new part of the first of many series: Marketing Your Business.
In these articles, I take our written programme points, and where I would be on a call with someone and explaining them as well, I have blockquoted my summary and any add-ons that come to mind, like examples and case-studies.
Hi, It's me. In this episode we talk about Customer Connection, Sustainable Business and...Origin Stories?
Origin Story
Every successful brand has a unique beginning, a story that sets the stage for its mission and vision. It all starts with a spark of inspiration, a moment of realization that there was a problem in the world that needed to be addressed. This is where a brand's journey begins - with a passion to make a difference. The founder's determination to tackle a specific issue head-on laid the foundation for what would eventually become a transformative brand.
This doesn't have to be your villain origin story, but the premise is the same, all the bad, the good, and the ugly rolled up into a spark of inspiration to create a business or a hobby turned business.
The initial challenges faced, the obstacles overcome, and the pivotal decisions made along the way all contributed to shaping a brand's identity and values. Through perseverance and unwavering commitment, the brand evolves from a mere idea into a powerful, living, breathing, company.
If you are struggling with what exactly your origin story is, think of it in real estate terms: it's not a small house it's cosy - it's not a small business, its a budding business with a community and cosy feel. Or in Big Hero 6 terms: Shake things up and look for a new angle - while still being true to your business and customers, ofc.
Customer Connection
Beyond just products and services, a brand is about people - the individuals behind it and the community it serves.
Our brand is driven by a deep-rooted belief in creating a positive impact, in making a difference in people's lives.
This isn't just about selling services; it's about fostering a sense of connection, empathy, and understanding. By sharing our story, we invite our audience to be a part of something bigger, something meaningful.
The way we do this, is by being transparent about costs and services. By posting behind the scenes content (coming soon), and having a friendly attitude. Watching a client's spark as they talk to us about their business ideas is an incredible feeling especially when we are the ones to get to help make that idea a reality. How would you market for the customer connection?
The bond between the brand and its customers goes beyond transactions; it is built on shared values, mutual respect, and a genuine desire to effect change. Through open communication, active engagement, and a customer-centric approach, the brand establishes lasting relationships that transcend mere consumerism.
Example
Let's take a sustainable brand, for instance. Imagine a founder who, like many of us, felt a growing concern about the environmental impact of single-use plastics. This frustration sparked a journey towards finding solutions, towards offering alternatives that are not only eco-friendly but also practical for everyday use.
This commitment to change, this dedication to a cause, is what drives the brand forward and inspires others to join in the movement towards a more sustainable future. The brand's example serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for individuals and businesses alike, demonstrating that small actions can lead to significant positive outcomes.
By championing sustainability and advocating for responsible consumption, the brand not only transforms its industry but also influences societal norms and behaviours towards a greener, more conscious world.
Next week we discuss how to test and refine your brand, until then: What is your favourite film/TV quote to best describe your origin story?
